Free as a Bird – Just in time for Thanksgiving, several lawmakers will be out hunting this week. Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., got an early start shooting fowl this morning at a farm in King George, Va. for his leadership PAC. From Thursday through Sunday, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, with special guests Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., and Richard Burr, R-N.C., is putting on a cabin retreat weekend in Georgia chock full of rugged activities: that includes "one-on-one" boar and deer hunting, quail hunting, sporting clays, "unlimited" golf, access to a fishing boat, and tennis—all in exchange for a $5,000 contribution ...

Tax lobbyists host a fundraiser for Menendez

A trio of tax lobbyists who together raise money for both Democrats and Republicans are scheduled to fete Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., next Wednesday. Menendez, chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) is not up for reelection himself until 2012, but with the balance of the Senate up in the air, he's busy raising cash for other candidates. Menendez is also a member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. Financial reform lobbyists host fundraisers for senators

Since the beginning of 2010 through April, at least ten senators who sit on the Banking and Agriculture Committees are listed as beneficiaries of fundraisers hosted by lobbyists who have pressed Congress on financial reform issues. Both committees have recently worked on a bill to overhaul the financial regulatory system, which will likely be debated on the Senate floor next week. According to Sunlight Foundation’s Party Time database, the fundraisers ranged from a “pre-St.Patrick’s Day” reception for Banking Committee member Jon Tester, D-Mont., on March 16 that asked for $100 to $1,000 in contributions, to ...
