Obama’s fundraiser to "get lifted" by John Legend and Education Secretary Arne Duncan
John Legend, the Grammy winning singer and songwriter, and Arne Duncan, the secretary of education, make an unusual duet but are combining forces to attract large donors to an March 20 fundraiser for President Obama. (It may be safe to assume that John Legend will be the only host singing.)
The event is to be held at the home of Cari and Michael Sacks in the posh Ritz-Carlton on Chicago's "Magnificent Mile." Michael Sacks is an Obama bundler and the founder of Grosvenor Capital Management L.P, one of Chicago’s biggest hedge-fund firms, according to Chicago Business. Last year, he was chosen by Mayor Rahm Emanuel to serve as Chicago’s chief corporate ambassador.
After rocking out with John Legend, guests can participate in a discussion moderated by Melody Barnes, the former director of the White House Domestic Policy Council.
Legend performed multiple times for the Obama campaign in 2008 and appeared in songs about his candidacy. The soiree will cost attendees between $5,000 and $25,000 dollars.
