Fashion-forward Obama heads to the Big Apple

President Barack Obama heads to New York  on Thursday for a fashion makeover of his campaign war chest. Well-known decorators, actors and artists will be in the crowd when Obama attends a reception at the home of his White House decorator to raise money for the Obama Victory Fund. Tickets range from $10,000 to $35,800.

Among the hosts of the event:

Michael Smith, who will provide the venue for the event, became the image-meister for the First Family's home in 2009, when the Obamas appointed him to redecorate the residential quarters;

Smith's partner, James Costos, an HBO executive

Tory Burch is an American fashion designer and businesswoman. Burch has designed for Obama's campaign for the Runway to Win Event, according to the Huffington Post;

Michael Kors, another American fashion designer who sometimes has the first lady for a model;

Actress Mariska Hargitay of the Law and Order SVU television series, who has helped Obama with his campaign against domestic violence;

Other big name co-hosts include Lyor Cohen, the North American chairman and CEO of recorded music for Warner Music Group; Elizabeth Redleaf, film producer and founder of Werc Werk Works; Glen Senk, former Urban Outfitters CEO, and and Margaret Russell, editor-in-chief of Architectural Digest.

According to ABC News, this event is the cap to a big New York fundraising swing for Obama.  He is expected to attend three other fundraisers before this reception. Including:

  • Another private reception with 100 guests. Tickets for this event start at $5,000.

  • A $35,800-per-plate dinner at French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s ABC Kitchen. Eighty supporters are expected to attend this event.

  • A gala reception hosted by big names such as Deepak Chopra and Russell Simons, which Sunlight reported about earlier. Tickets for this event range from $1,000 to $38,500.
